The ultimate goal of a player in DayZ Mod is survival. To be able to enjoy the game’s endless thrills a player needs a strategy. The awesome thing about this DayZ game is players are free to do almost anything they wish. Newbies can find the game sometimes frustrating, dying half the time. The game is realistic; you need a weapon and ammunition to get by, along with some food and water. I’ll highlight some kick ass tricks to enable you overcome some rookie obstacles.

SNEAK AND SEARCH STRATEGY

This is quite one of the easiest approach to ensure a player’s survival. It may be a bit hard for newbies who haven’t had a feel of the game yet. This strategy as the name suggests requires a player to plan their routes, avoid zombie areas.

Tips

Know your area. Having some kind of situational awareness is important. Take note of zombie hotspots and adapt to their movements.
Be efficient and fast. Plan what you want and approach buildings which are probable to have the stuff you want (food or Ammunition).
Hide in bushes. Move beside buildings, in the dark and during cloudy or stormy conditions. Learn how to jump, crouch and run.
When you are caught out and hell breaks loose swiftly shift into the losing zombies mode or Sprint and Grab mode.

FOREST STRATEGY

Towns and Cities are notorious kill zones. You don’t want to be caught in a multitude of zombies with limited ammunition. Zombies can pounce on you suddenly, so avoid being any easy target for zombies. So start off with moving through the forest moving directly into the interior of the map. The forest strategy involves a player learning to navigate with ease the Arma2 engine.

Hints

Look for a way into the forest once you spawn. Hover far around the buildings. If unfamiliar just have a look at the map. The golden rule is to avoid cities and towns as much as possible. However if you spawn a city try as much as possible to stay close to the beach.
Once you reach the forest, look for a barn. Barns are great places to find handy tools like hatchets, weapons and food like beans and soda. Don’t forget to feed your player. Barns are not totally safe; be on the lookout for two or three Zombies patrolling outside area of the barn. Inside the barn keep your ears and eyes open. You will hear and spot a zombie approaching find a cozy spot quickly and target them as they approach.
Barns have food so loot as much as you can. The food is mostly in cans so be sure to on the lookout for that.

FULL ON ASSAULT STRATEGY

Some players love the thrill of an aggressive approach just going, to town the zombies. This strategy is best carried out by a team of well armed players. Doing this as a lone wolf will end quite prematurely for many players. Unity is strength, so team up and defend a city while methodically looting buildings.

Hints and tricks

Have the mentality of a platoon, tactical awareness is imperative. Learn military tactics
Assign tasks to individual players, your team should have at least point man, looter and sentry. Working together in a harmonious way is a great direct assault strategy.
Don’t get too carried away when the fighting starts. Remain in your assigned role and maintain discipline.
A small town can from nowhere spawn a flock of zombies. Be on the lookout you could be overrun.
